  • Leaders can create a climate that brings out the best so employees can change, grow and cooperate.
  • "Pattern Aware Learning" is our unique method of accessing and restructuring behavioral patterns that impact individuals and companies.
  • Understanding the power of patterns has been a missing part of leadership training. Our world is made up of patterns.
  • You'll be surprised at the changes that can limit office politics.

Here's what people say about Total Leadership Connections:

All the principles in our company have gone through TLC. It makes a difference being aware of the power of long term patterns that have been handed through the generations. Patterns can be positive like courage, determination, compassion, and also destructive such as, avoidance, procrastination and selfishness. We help each other stay on track so that conflicts are short lived and we can get on with our creative work.

It is amazing to me to comprehend the roles that family, culture and crises play in developing patterns that can effect not just our work and home relationships, also our physical health. This program is so eye opening I enrolled my daughter in the Young Leaders Program in July and can't wait until my son is old enough to attend. This is preventive medicine in action.

TLC helps us as leaders develop environments that provide employees with skills to face the difficulties of conflict and disappointment and see that all long term solutions require buy-in from all involved, that everything truly is connected.

Tips From

A CEO Clear Communication One Day Program

Do you have an internal voice that plays the same tape over and over again? Are the words "Yes but," "I should" and "I can't" running on a slow moving tickertape through your mind? Do those words automatically jump out of your mouth and into your regular conversations at work and at home? If your internal voice is keeping you in the negative, you can choose to change it.

Did you ever put off for tomorrow what you could do today? We all have! Did you ever have someone report to you at work who continually put off for tomorrow what could be done today? Not just on one occasion or two, most of the time? What parts of the following scene are familiar to you?

Boss:

You promised to have the report finished today.

Employee:

I got caught up in other work.

Boss:

Tomorrow then. I need it for the Board of Directors meeting on Thursday.

Employee:

It’ll be on your desk by lunch time.

[Fast forward to Friday]

Boss:

I never got the report and I had to improvise my way through the Board meeting. This behavior isn’t working. You have great creative talents, yet you keep shooting yourself in the foot with your procrastination. Get a coach, go to a program, talk to a friend. Do something. This promise – disappointing behavior is going to destroy your career.

Employee:

I’ll take care if it tomorrow.

Boss:

NO! NOW! Here is a list of options. This is your last chance dance.

Getting It Done!

Q:

"I'm always late for meetings. I mean always. Even if it's just by two minutes. I can't tell you the number of planes that I have either just gotten on by a hair or missed by minutes.

I have a day timer, make list after list and when I promise to get something done on time I really mean it. Then, guess what, I'm always late!

Is there a block in my brain? Is there anything I can do and if not, who or what can I blame it on?"

A:

Of course it's a block. All behavior is connected to our brain someway. And there's lots you can do. I'll bet you have become a master of the blame game and that's the place to start. Your tendency is to look out there at the demands of others causes the inability to say "no", the deep yearning to please and especially the fear of getting it wrong.

Cathleen O'Conner Ph.D

Our newest CEO facilitator is truly a Renaissance woman. Cathleen spent 30 years in corporate America in a large Pharmaceutical company as senior vice president of I.T. Cathleen began her own business in 1998 as a life coach, stress management specialist and writer.

Her newly published book "Harriet Steps Off the Wheel" is a fabulous fable about an executive in an international seed company looking for work/life balance. Did we forget to mention, Harriet's passion for the seed company is partly due to the fact that she is a hamster! Harriet's journey to self discovery is the one every woman takes on the route to work/life balance.

This whimsical and profound book will be used in the High Fives executive women's retreat program that Cathleen and Sylvia Lafair, Ph.D President of Creative Energy Options are presenting October 4-7, 2005.

In addition, Cathleen is joining us to facilitate Total Leadership Connections as well as our shorter one and two day programs.
